The Learners

While browsing the shelves of The Chicago Public Library, I ran into a copy of The Learners, by Chip Kidd. The sequel to The Cheese Monkeys, a required reading I had as a freshman at The Univeristy of North Texas in the comm design department. The first book is based on a fictional character named "Happy" who attends school for design before it was a socially acceptable field in the United States. The sequel, The Learners, follows Happy in his post college life as he lands his first design job. It also has a close evaluation of the Milgram Experiments at Yale and how they relate to design. This book is a must read if you pursue a career in any field of design and are in need of a comic relief.
